Irvine, CA – January 5, 2023 – Metcam Inc., an Atlanta-based fabricator of sheet metal components and assemblies, has chosen OptiProERP with SAP Business One to handle its rapid growth and manufacturing operations.
The custom fabricator, which makes fire and security enclosures, gaming cabinets, and controller cabinets for original equipment operators, recently landed several new customers.
It has operated on a legacy version of Infor’s Syteline and used multiple spreadsheets and databases to extract data and gain insights.
“We are running a legacy ERP, and we have a lack of trust in the financial data. Reporting is also problematic,” says Brad Farrar, IT Director, who joined the company in 2022.
The new ERP coincides with Metcam’s need to replace its legacy hardware, which is on-premises, Farrar says. “We wanted a cloud-based system because we don’t want to be in the hardware business.”
Executives searched for a cloud-based ERP with robust manufacturing functionality, one that was easy to use. The company operated on multiple Infor software programs and initially planned to upgrade its ERP to the latest Infor version. However, Metcam executives worried about moving over bad data and later learned the new Infor implementation cost was extremely expensive.
They also evaluated OptiProERP, Acumatica and attempted to learn more about Oracle NetSuite. A NetSuite salesperson failed to respond in a timely fashion, which eliminated it from consideration, Farrar says.
Manufacturing Expertise Key to ERP Choice
Metcam chose OptiProERP with SAP Business One over Acumatica due to OptiProERP’s strategic focus on the manufacturing market.
“Acumatica has a nice product but didn’t impress the team as much as the OptiProERP presentation did,” Farrar says. “We chose OptiProERP due to its presentation of the data, the way it works, and because it appears to be easy to use. Verticalization was important to us and Acumatica and the others are generic ERPs where you have to get a partner that knows the manufacturing space to implement.”
Efficient Manufacturing Operations
Once implemented, Farrar looks forward to “better data to operate the business, quicker financial closes, and more accurate data,” he says. He’s confident the company will receive much better support, and OptiProERP will make it easier for him to set up new workstations.
Financial closes will happen faster, and Metcam will have more confidence in the numbers thanks to OptiProERP’s partnership with SAP Business One, he adds.
